(B) Working from a list or example and with a peer, students label
the parts of an article or textbook chapter, such as headings,
subheading, picture, chart, map, caption, paragraph, etc.

Students utilize previewing strategies before reading a magazine
article such as reading the first and last paragraph and then
predicting the subject of the article.
(I, T) During a read-aloud exercise,
students write what they believe will happen next, then share their
answers with the class at the end of the exercise to find who was
most accurate

or examples that reveal important or different aspects of the
subject and make inferences
Drawing Inferences
(I, T) Activity students writes direct
quotations and then writes own inference meaning of text
Prereading Notes

Revised KWL Chart
(I, T) Activity student uses as a
pre-reading activity strategy and makes connections between the
topic at hand and the other things know in the student's schema
