El Museo del Prado
This site has pre-reading, reading, and post-reading assignments for visitation to the Prado Museum website.

Tortillas vs. Tortillas
This site contains a lesson that will allow students to compare and contrast cultures by using recipes.  It also has independent and group assignments.

John Steinbeck y la Perla: Plan de Lección
This site has a lesson on the author John Steinbeck and leads into the discussion of his novel
The Pearl.

El Almacen
In this lesson the students will decorate the classroom like a department store, including prices in pesos. Afterwards, the students will prepare skits of varying lengths using the department store they have just created.

Learning about Mexico: Making and Using Salt Dough Human Puppets in the Classroom
This lesson, begins by showing students how to make hand-held salt-dough "human" puppets. The students then research the history, family life, economics, politics, literature, music and art of Mexico. Finally, using their research material, students write skits in which the puppets speak Spanish and English.

The Latin American Mercado: Who Made This?
This lesson on the Latin American mercado will help students gain understanding of the market place and its impact on traditional society.  Hopefully, they can transfer newly acquired economic skills and global understanding to their purchasing power.

Nuestra Escuela / Our School
In "Nuestra Escuela," students explore how they as individuals fit into the school community, and the ways in which the school has changed or remained the same within the context of the broader community.

Mexican Food
This lesson introduces Mexican food and the history behind it. The main objective of this lesson is to introduce new food vocabulary to the students. In addition, the students will also participate in classroom activities, make a menu of their own, take quizzes, and use the internet to practice the vocabulary. The students will apply what they learn in a Mexican restaurant, by ordering their meal in Spanish

Spanish Bingo
This is a great lesson for review. It is the same as playing Bingo, but you may call it whatever you wish and have the student call that name out when s/he wins.

Electronic Journals about Latin American Folktales
This lesson combines technology and research using authentic student-to-student dialog about folktales from their countries. Folklore genre provides the context through which students will learn more about Latin American countries.  Teachers will need to subscribe to an Internet discussion list intended for teachers seeking classroom partners for an intercultural email project.

Language Links This site will allow your students to be creative while they learn about Spanish culture.  Working cooperatively in groups to present a news program will greatly improve their comfort level with the target language.

Center for the Liberal Arts: Spanish From this page, users can access a wide range of links to internet sites relating to Spanish language and culture.  In addition, this page has an "Ask A Professor" feature which allows teachers to e-mail a question to the Center for the Liberal Arts and so receive an answer from a University of Virginia faculty member.

Latin American Network Information Center (lanic): Newspapers & News This website gives links to newspapers in different Latin American countries.

Sí, Spain The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs developed this site in an effort to provide information on Spanish current affairs and its historical, linguistic and cultural development.

LADB - Latin America Data Base This is the home page of the Latin America Data Base.  LADB is an on-line news service in English about Latin American affairs.  Also included on this page are links to SourceMex, NotiCen, NotiSur, a searchable archive and RetaNet, a site filled with lesson plans about Latin America designed for secondary school teachers.  

Hispanic Magazine This magazine has a list of links to articles for and about Hispanics. Site includes Hispanic culture, business, sports and more.

Museo del Prado This website is for one of Spain's most famous museums. It offers online tours of its collection and other museum information.

CNN En Español CNN world news in Spanish. A great resource for Sports, weather, international concerns, health, fashion and everything else you are used to from CNN.

Spanish Arts. CO Many famous Spanish paintings are found here. Click on the image for a larger view and commentary on the work.

Online Resources-Spanish This site is dedicated to materials for language learning. It includes courses, grammar, links to practice materials in all four modalities, and much more.

Webspañol: Spanish Language Resources on-line This site boasts of their commitment to Spanish Language study with Internet resources.

spanish.language & culture Spanish Grammar Exercises: a wonderful practice resource for all those fine tune grammar points that students struggle with so often. Try it out!

Noticias y Revistas In case none of the others interest you, here is a nice listing of many of the Hispanic Newspapers available on the web.

TeachSpanish.com The TeachSpanish.com Country Resource Center will allow you to explore any Latin American country you choose in either English or Spanish. Also, when you get to a country, simply click on the country flag to get some general demographic information in English about that country.

Traveling in Spain This is a great database of photos and descriptions of a persons tour of southern Spain including some less traveled areas. Also links to cities throughout the country.
