The Mayans
This is an
interdisciplinary unit which will explore why the Mayan are not as
prominent today as they were in the past. Students will also develop a
better understanding of Mayan culture and their civilization.
Building Communities/Construyendo Comunidades
The objective of the lesson is to allow students to take
responsibility for their own learning of a foreign language through
exploring the theme of what community means. All groups develop
their own core vocabulary of words associated with their concept of
community. For the Grade and Middle School students the lessons
should be kept at a concrete-operation cognitive level. For High
School students their theme remains the same, but their development
is more on the abstract cognitive level.
