This lesson takes you to a website on the Mexican Ballet Folklorico.

La Tele Madrileña en la Red
This lesson is intended to familiarize students toward the end of Spanish 2 with a television channel's Web page from Madrid, Spain. It covers pre-reading reading, and post reading activities.

Mi Casa, Mi Pueblo y los Maya
This lesson introduces or reinforces general vocabulary that students need in order to talk or write about where they live. It also compares and contrasts their houses and towns with those of the late classic Maya period in Central America. Basic research skills for finding useful facts and applying their findings is also promoted.

The Latin American Mercado: Who Made This?
This lesson on the Latin American mercado will help students gain understanding of the market place and its impact on traditional society.  Hopefully, they can transfer newly acquired economic skills and global understanding to their purchasing power.

Nuestra Escuela / Our School
In "Nuestra Escuela," students explore how they as individuals fit into the school community, and the ways in which the school has changed or remained the same within the context of the broader community.

Spain and Bullfighting
In this lesson students will focus on Ernest Hemingway's life in Spain. They will view Michael Palin's "Hemingway Adventures" and then research Spain and bullfighting using the Internet and other reference materials.

Mexican Food
This lesson introduces Mexican food and the history behind it. The main objective of this lesson is to introduce new food vocabulary to the students. In addition, the students will also participate in classroom activities, make a menu of their own, take quizzes, and use the internet to practice the vocabulary. The students will apply what they learn in a Mexican restaurant, by ordering their meal in Spanish

Electronic Journals about Latin American Folktales
This lesson combines technology and research using authentic student-to-student dialog about folktales from their countries. Folklore genre provides the context through which students will learn more about Latin American countries.  Teachers will need to subscribe to an Internet discussion list intended for teachers seeking classroom partners for an intercultural email project.

¡Comida!
This lesson is intended for a Spanish for Spanish Speakers class. Students write essays and create recipe cards in Spanish with details about their favorite foods and the cultural celebrations or events they associate with the food.

Leyendas and Childrens' Literature
In this project, students will develop a connection with a kindergarten or first grade student by reading children's literature to them. At the same time, the student will explore the cultural writings, legends, and folk tales from the Southwest and Latin America. Students will complete two projects using two different cultural writings, legends, or folk tales. One project will be completed on the computer and the second will be in another format. At least one of the projects must be completed in a form that can be given to the kindergarten student to keep.

The Island of the Blue Dolphins The purpose of this site is to use historical fiction to engage students in California history,  to build student's background knowledge or schema, so they can better comprehend the literature , for Spanish second language learners to access both the literature as well as the history , for students to use valuable resources found on the Internet to do research in a focused and directed way , and to integrate technology into the Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science, curriculums .

Hispanic Magazine This magazine has a list of links to articles for and about Hispanics. Site includes Hispanic culture, business, sports and more.

Museo del Prado This website is for one of Spain's most famous museums. It offers online tours of its collection and other museum information.

Spanish Arts. CO Many famous Spanish paintings are found here. Click on the image for a larger view and commentary on the work.

CNN En Español CNN world news in Spanish. A great resource for Sports, weather, international concerns, health, fashion and everything else you are used to from CNN.

El Espectador  This site is a daily paper from Colombia. Includes front page stories, economics, sports, links to back issues, and more.

El País This site is home to one of the most widely distributed papers in Spain is now available in part in electronic form. Updated daily.

Online Resources-Spanish This site is dedicated to materials for language learning. It includes courses, grammar, links to practice materials in all four modalities, and much more.

Traveling in Spain This is a great database of photos and descriptions of a persons tour of southern Spain including some less traveled areas. Also links to cities throughout the country.

Webspañol: Spanish Language Resources on-line This site boasts of their commitment to Spanish Language study with Internet resources.
