speaking in that language and then view it?
Á la Poste/ At the Post Office
Students will perform a variety of tasks related to the post office and
letter writing in French. By composing a letter
and purchasing a stamp in French, students will be assessed in writing
comprehension and oral production.
Aller en Ville/ Getting Around the City
Students will practice identifying the different places in the city and
giving directions to these places.
Au Café/
At the Café
In this lesson plan, students will practice ordering food at a café and
also practice French table manners.
Tour de France
In this unit, students learn about the provinces of France, thoroughly
researching one of them. They write a persuasive argument to an
imaginary committee who will be choosing the route for the next Tour
de France.
Au Cinema/ At the Movies
Students will practice reading, writing, and saying vocabulary
associated with going to the movies.
In a small group presentation, students will be given a film genre from
which they must write and perform a script for the class.
Classroom Expressions
This lesson is to be implemented during the first few weeks of French I
and is designed to keep students in the target language as much as
possible. Students will learn classroom commands, expressions to seek
more information, and ask for permission.
L'Impératif/ The Imperative
Students will review giving instructions in French using the imperative.
They will practice reading, writing, and listening to commands for
groups by reviewing classroom commands.
L'Heure/ Telling Time
Students will practice using conversational time in French. In this
lesson they will use all four skills of language learning: writing,
reading, listening, and speaking.
La Cuisine Française
In this technology-connected lesson, students will create a one-page
menu for a French restaurant with "Spécialités du Jour" from three
different francophone (French-speaking) countries or cultures.
Internet-connected computers and word processing software are necessary
to implement this lesson.
