| Lesson Plans:
20th
Century Collage
In
this scenario, student groups research various topics of 20th century
French civilization, literature, and culture by decades. Areas of study
include music, art, architecture, literature, theater, film, politics,
religion, science, medicine, technology, and daily life.
Experiencing Life in the Middle Ages
In this unit, groups of students research topics from the Middle Ages.
Each group presents its findings to the class. Students learn new
vocabulary and historical information. They review and practice
vocabulary related to families, preferences, houses, occupations, and
hobbies.
Le Carrefour Culturel
What is American? What is French? The attempt to find a simple
definition of either culture is impossible. In this scenario,
students develop an understanding of the effects of French colonialism
on Africa and/or the Caribbean as well as the concept of Négritude,
an expression of the cultural crossroads (carrefour culturel)
experienced by those of the former French colonies.
