German I
Std.  1.3
Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.

Lesson Plans:

Foreign Film Festival
The class reads and analyzes a short story by an author in the language they are studying and then discusses how to turn this short story into a movie.

Musik Gegen Hass
The activities on this web site are intended to introduce students to the topic of "Fremdenhaß" and expose them to the music of rock bands who are actively engaged in producing songs and/or videos against hate. They are mini-lessons for different levels that can stand alone, become part of a larger unit, or be used over several days to supplement regular classroom instruction.

Deutsche Identität
The goal of the unit is to show the diversity of people who live in Germany, to inform the students about how Germans and non-Germans are differentiated, to allow students to experience some attitudes held by and against certain groups of people living in Germany, and to expect students to have an awareness of what it can mean when someone says "I am from Germany."

German Gesundheit!
Students do research on general fitness and nutrition and German health clubs with a culminating activity of hosting and participating in an authentic German Fitneß-Studio. Students prepare printed documents and craft materials to promote and enhance their club, using learned vocabulary and structures.
