Std # 2: Interact effectively in group situations

Lesson Plans:

Exploring Disability Using Multimedia and the B-D-A Reading Strategy
In this lesson, students apply the B-D-A (before-during-after) reading comprehension strategy as they explore varied aspects of disability by investigating rich, interactive multimedia resources.

Writing, Representing, and Speaking (Products and Presentations)
Group students and assign a simulation project, in which each student is expected to assume a role of responsibility and fulfill specified tasks that include completing relevant professional communication products to deadline.

Sharing Summer Reading Through Literary Circles
This lesson allows students to discuss the assigned summer reading in literature circles with respect to plot, character, and theme. Students work in groups of three to four to produce a slideshow presentation of one of the novels read.

Macbeth Scrapbook
Students will work in groups of two or three to produce two pages of a digital scrapbook covering a thematic element from Macbeth. The pages will then be assembled into a visual review of the play’s themes and character motivations arranged by acts.

Quilting with Literature
Students work in small groups to study a chosen literary period and present their findings to the entire class.  This lesson is designed as a semester project but can be modified to meet time restrictions.

Book Chat
For this outside reading assignment project, students will exercise speaking, listening, note taking and writing skills in a team literary analysis. The activity will end with independent written work which will evolve from the class work done with partners.
