Language Mechanics: Distinguish correct capitalization - the first word of sentences, pronoun I, and proper nouns (titles of people)  (COS 19/ SAT 10)

Simple Seasonal Sentences
Seasonal pictures stimulate students to think of sentences using proper nouns including months of the year and the days of the week. Students practice writing simple sentences with capitalization and punctuation.

Writing Process, Stage 4:  Editing
After working as a whole group to edit sentences, students will edit their piece of writing that they have been working on in previous lessons. Includes teacher worksheets and student and teacher checklists.

Punctuation Paintball:  Choose the easy level to work on capitalization and punctuation.  It asks you to register for free, but you can click "maybe later" and skip that step.

Suggestions for English Language Learners:

(E/B) Students copy sentences correctly from text. Students check to see if they are the same as the original.

Students practice writing on a line, using spacing between words.

Students practice writing letters of the alphabet (capital and lower case).

Students capitalize proper nouns, titles of people, and the first word in a sentence.

Students punctuate sentences with commas, periods and question marks as needed.
