Language Mechanics: Identify correctly applied grammar - nouns, pronouns, verbs (action/ being), subject-verb agreement (simple subject), adjectives, and adverbs (COS 19/ SAT10)

Lesson Plans:

Sentence Quest:  Using Parts of Speech to Write Descriptive Sentences
This multi-session activity uses students’ speaking vocabularies to help them learn about complete sentences.

Action ABCs:  Learning Vocabulary With Verbs
This lesson is designed to help students better use their vocabulary by teaching them what verbs are and then helping them access verbs they already know and use them in sentences.

Nouns
Read a poem about nouns and then students create their own poems.

Shower of Adjectives
This activity showcases students' knowledge of adjectives using an umbrella/raindrops theme.

Where the Wild Things Are
Students use their imaginations to create and describe their own wild thing while learning about adjectives.  You could use it as a Talents communication lesson (for example: many, varied single words to describe their wild thing).

Who Fed the Chickens?
Use Ella Jenkins' song "Who Fed the Chickens?" to help students learn about pronouns.
