Lesson Plans:
Writing Workshop: Helping Writers Choose and Focus on a Topic
This lesson, conducted in a workshop format, helps young writers bring
greater focus to their writing. Students use a timeline to break a
larger topic into several events or moments; then, each student
selects an event to write about from the timeline.

Students will engage in story mapping and identification of the
various elements of a story.
Dino's
Diner
Students create a modern day dinosaur menu to generate creative ideas
regarding what dinosaurs would eat an imaginary restaurant.

Book Activity: This is a game in which students can make up
stories on a particular theme. They can add animation, sounds,
and text.
Doodle Splash: Intended as reading response activity, the
interactive Doodle Splash can definitely double as a method of
bringing focus to students' writing.
