Lesson Plans:
Q Is For Duck: Using Alphabet Books With Struggling Writers
In this lesson, students investigate various alphabet books, examine
their different structures, and finally create their own alphabet
books using a structure of their choice. This experience will assist
even the most reluctant writer to become an author.
Positively Poetry
Students will be learning about and writing limericks. Since
limericks follow a strict rhyming pattern and word count, the students
will work in partners to create their own limericks.
April Foolery
Your students will enjoy a bit of trickery on April Fools Day.
Give students an April Fools Day worksheet when they first come into
the classroom. Then teach them about the history of April Fools
Day, and play a prank on another class. Have students in both
classes share an April Fools treat and write how it felt to be
tricked.
