appropriate for all students and includes a wide range of activities.
This lesson provides a way for you to help your students learn and
develop understandings of new word patterns.
Spelling Cheerleading: Integrating Movement and Spelling
Generalizations
Spelling should not be taught in isolation; weekly spelling lists
should include either related words or high-frequency words that
appear in student writing. This lesson teaches the spelling
generalization for adding suffixes to words that end with the letter
y.
Rock
the Boat
As a spelling strategy, the students learn how to divide words into
syllables between the consonants in the middle of the word. The
students then use this knowledge to play a station activity game.
Pen Pal Letters to Soldiers Overseas
Students write letters to
soldiers overseas with correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and
capitalization.
