Suggestions for English Language Learners:

(E/B)  Students practice with picture-word cards that have the picture and word on one side of the card (i.e. Maple Street) and the abbreviation on the other (i.e. Maple St.). After time to study the abbreviations, have a buddy hold up the picture/word card and have the student write down or say the abbreviation.
(D, E)
Students keep a writing log in which teachers create sentences that are incorrect that students self-correct or work in small groups/partners to correct.
