Action
In this lesson, students will learn to combine two or more descriptive
sentences and action sentences into one sentence with an appositive
phrase.
Compound Butterflies
The objective for the lesson is writing and punctuating compound
sentences. The students will use a butterfly pattern to practice
combining sentences in the correct manner.
Transition
Words and Phrases
Students will learn to combine sentences using two kinds of transition
words: time transitions and thought (logical) transitions.
Successful Paragraphs
This activity guides students through the writing process for a
successful five-sentence paragraph with varied sentence beginnings.
Repeating this process frequently with many, varied topics teaches
students to use variety to create interesting paragraphs.
