Language Mechanics: Space words appropriately (COS 3)

Lesson Plans:

A Thanksgiving Handwriting Activity
This holiday lesson gives students an opportunity to practice their handwriting sills.

Snacks at My Sleepover
This lesson was intended for second grade, but it shows very well how to make spaces between words.  Take a look at it and see how you can modify it for your kindergarten class!

What's in a Name?  Teaching Concepts of Letter and Word
Understanding that those ABCs in the song are letters that we use to make words is a big leap for many kindergarten students. We can use something as familiar and nonthreatening as their names and the names of their classmates as a starting place for reading and writing.

Resources:

The Sentence Song:  This song teaches the basics about writing a sentence.  Read the lyrics and listen to a clip of the song.

Suggestions for English Language Learners:
(E/B=Entering/Beginning, D=Developing, E=Expanding)

(E/B) Students turn pages from front to back and point to the print or the pictures.
(E/B)
