Suggestions for English Language Learners:

ESL Ideas      (B=Beginning, I=Intermediate, T=Transitional)
(B, I, T) Students use a standard format to create a bibliography card for a given source. Teachers may need to provide several examples of how a bibliography is set up.  Students use the the MLA Standards (the publishing guidelines for the Modern Language Association) for the correct format. Students should be able to note bibliographical information from all types of sources.  See
MLA Standards for examples.
(I, T) Students, working in pairs, participate in a scavenger hunt for bibliographical information in the library. Sources may include the atlas, almanac and encyclopedia.  Students also learn to access this information in the library software.
(I, T) Students locate assigned library selections using the Dewey decimal system. Students fill in a library map to locate books.
