Suggestions for English Language Learners:                   

ESL Ideas      (B=Beginning, I=Intermediate, T=Transitional)
(B, I) Students will follow a series of sequenced commands through total physical response exercises provided by the teacher. Students can repeat the commands to the other classmates for understanding.
(T)
Students listen to a brief clip from a news program and paraphrase the news item.
(I, T)  Students interview classmates to gather survey information. 
(I, T) Students work with a partner to read poetry aloud.  Use Joyful Noise, Poems for Two Voices or I Am Phoenix, Poems for Two Voices, both by Paul Fleischman, if possible.  See also a lesson for using
