Lesson Plans: Camp Bound Earth: Problem Solving and Finding for Fun Writing a persuasive experience involving a field trip to Earth No Place Like Home? Arguing for the protection of endangered species Children of War Students will read a variety of diary entries of children of wars. Students will be involved with role playing some of the diary entries Concern for Community Students will discuss the types of social injustices in the book The House on Mango Street

Resources: Movie Reviews Analyzing media Glencoe/McGraw-Hill link to Bartlett's Quotations Journal prompts Arts and Letters Daily Quotes to make journal prompts Suggestions for English Language Learners: ESL Ideas (B=Beginning, I=Intermediate, T=Transitional) (I, T) Students draw pictures or list words evoked by viewing a video or listening to a story read aloud. Students can be encouraged to use their own experiences to supplement the drawing or list. (B, I, T) See also More Ideas Than You’ll Ever Use for Book Reports. Many of these ideas can be adapted for use by English language learners. (B) Students create a journal which starts with pictures and words from their first language. (I, T) Students keep a written, non-graded journal in which they free-write, and the teacher then responds in writing.
