Effective Methods for Teaching Paragraph Development
This complete instructional unit includes many embedded lesson plans for individual skills as well as for expository, opinion, descriptive, and narrative writing.

Paragraph Unity
By constructing and writing on a paper fan, students visualize how each sentence must relate to and develop a paragraph's main idea.

Students use pre-written words to create sentences.
(I, T) Students work in small groups to label sentences and paragraphs with above characteristics.
(I, T) Students complete a graphic organizer listing the topic sentence and supporting sentences of a given paragraph.
(T)  Students access classroom bulletin board or graphic containing frequently-used transition words to be included in their writing.
