Suggestions for English Language Learners:                   

ESL Ideas      (B=Beginning, I=Intermediate, T=Transitional)
(B, I, T) Students take a common phrase and listen for alternative intonation patterns on television and in real life situations.
(B, I) Students act-out common greetings in different school, business, and American family settings. Students could draw posters representing the different possible interactions and settings, and then match the conversations to the appropriate interaction or setting.
(I, T) Students identify and list dialects and idioms encountered in reading selections.
