Std Phonemic Awareness IA:
Demonstrate phonemic awareness by isolating, deleting, and adding phonemes, by using onsets and rimes, and by identifying initial, medial, and final sounds in one-syllable words. (AL COS 1)

A. Exhibit phonological awareness

  1. count the number of words in spoken sentences
  2. identify and supply rhyming words
  3. count the number of syllables in spoken words
  4. segment onsets and rhymes in spoken syllables and words

This lesson uses onset-rime analogy to present word families and spelling patterns.

Students will listen to poems and rhymes, clap out syllables, and sing along with familiar tunes.
