Demonstrate phonological skills by manipulating the sounds and words of the English language and identifying syllables in two- and three- syllable words. (AL COS 1) (Appendix E.)

Lesson Plans:

Gingerbread Phonics:  This lesson uses The Gingerbread Man for shared reading
Then students will play an online game to practice letter-sound correspondence.  At the bottom of the lesson, there are links to other sources for teaching with The Gingerbread Man.

Word Wizards:  Students Making Words
This lesson uses 4 children's books as the basis for this activity where students make words.

Phonics In Context
This particular lesson focuses on the short /u/ sound, and can be easily adapted for other phonics elements.

Writing Poems That Rhyme
This lesson uses technology in the presentation and publication of student poems.
