Std 4:    Describe similarities and differences of cell organelles, using diagrams and tables.
• Identifying scientists who contributed to the cell theory – ex – Hooke, Schleiden, Schwann, Virchow, van Leeuwenhoek.
• Identifying various technologies used to observe cells – ex – light microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope
         

Lesson Plans:

Cell Analogies Collage:
This project challenges students to make original functional analogies between cell structures and everyday objects. The analogies are illustrated by pictures cut from magazines and newspapers. A student hand-out is included giving assignment details.

Jell-O Cells
Students will describe the appearance and location within the cell of the various cell organelles.

Cell Organelles
Students design a poster with a cell and its organelles on one part and an analogy to the cell on another part.
