Lesson Plans: Water Column Mix-Up This lesson has students investigate three broad ocean habitats - the intertidal zone, the pelagic zone, and the abyss - and find out about some specific adaptations animals have made in each of these regions. AMPHI Students will understand layers of the ocean using electronic sources of varying ability levels. Under the Sea Students will research and discuss the different ocean layers. The Water Column: Where Do Ocean Animals Belong? National Geographic lesson in which students will learn about the intertidal zone, the open ocean, and the abyss—and find out about some specific adaptations animals have made in each of these regions.
