Grade 6, Science Std # 2.1: Describe the three types of volcanoes.

Lesson Plans: Understanding Volcanoes Students will research and build models of the three types of volcanoes. Ring of Fire Label countries and numbers of volcanoes on a map of the Ring of Fire. Building a Stratovolcano Students will review the three types of volcanoes. Students will construct a stratovolcano and determine the composition of each types of volcano. Students will research examples of stratovolcanoes using Internet resources. Cake Batter Lava Students will understand some of the geological processes and the structures that form as lava flows across planetary landscapes by using cake batter as an analog for lava.
