The Characteristics of
Living Things
Students will identify characteristics of living things using the
method of observation, use recall to place visual data in proper
order, transfer common names to scientific names, retain the
structure of organisms through role play, and observe an exhibit using
the overhead projector and explain on paper what they observed using
the scientific process.
Determining the Characteristics of Living Things - LAB
Students will determine the characteristics of living things through
an online lab project.
What is Life?
Students will investigate objects and discuss whether they are alive
or not alive. Students are challenged to provide evidence for
their decision and defend their opinion.

Students use the Internet to understand how organisms are linked and
classified.
