Grade 7, Science
Std #
2: Identify functions of organelles found in eukaryotic cells, including the nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, mitochondria, chloroplasts, and vacuoles.

Lesson Plans:

Cells

Students will complete a series of activities, including illustrating cell structure and role-playing organelles.

Jello Cells
This activity allows the students to build 3D cell models and so have a concrete example to help them to develop this concept.

Making Three Dimensional Plant and Animals Cells
The purpose of this activity is to provide students with a hands-on activity which will enhance their understanding of the 3D characteristics of cells while reinforcing their knowledge of plant and animal cell structure.

Cell Mates
Students explore the relationships between bacterial endosymbionts and organelles of eukaryotic cells.

Nuclear Transplants
Students will model placing the nucleus of one cell into the body of another.

Resources:

Organelles of Eukaryotic Cells
Lists common organelles and illustrates cell structure.

Cellular Biology: Cell Structures and Functions
Excellent resource
