Lesson Plans:

Cardiorespiratory Fitness
Students approximate a measure of lung capacity, compare the capacities of males and females, and study the effect of activity on lung capacity.

Bottled Model Lung
To build a model of the respiratory system and investigate the inputs, outputs, and interactions of the parts in the system.

How Air Moves In and Out of the Lung
To assist pupils in the intermediate grades develop an understanding of the respiratory system. To demonstrate how air enters and leaves the lungs. Demonstrate the relationship between the breathing rate and exercise.

Respiratory System Model
Students will make their own models of the respiratory system.

Respiratory System
Students will demonstrate that there is oxygen in the air we breathe.  They will also build a model of the respiratory system, measure the amount of air that can be forced out of the lungs, and demonstrate that carbon dioxide is exhaled from the body.
