Lesson Plans:
Cardiorespiratory
Fitness
Students approximate a measure of lung capacity, compare the
capacities of males and females, and study the effect of activity on
lung capacity.
Bottled Model Lung
To build a model of the
respiratory system and investigate the inputs, outputs, and
interactions of the parts in the system.
How Air Moves In and
Out of the Lung
To assist pupils in the intermediate grades develop an understanding
of the respiratory system. To demonstrate how air enters and leaves
the lungs. Demonstrate the relationship between the breathing rate
and exercise.
Respiratory
System Model
Students will make their own models of the respiratory system.
Respiratory System
Students will demonstrate that there is oxygen in the air we
breathe. They will also build a model of the respiratory
system, measure the amount of air that can be forced out of the
lungs, and demonstrate that carbon dioxide is exhaled from the body.
