on the telephone? Here is a fun way to find out how sound travels
and talk to friends at the same time.
Sound
In this lesson students will understand that sound is caused by
vibrations and that the pitch of a sound depends on vibrations.
Sound
This lesson was designed for grade K-3. The lesson will be taught
over a period of three weeks. Students will identify sound
vocabulary and that pitch can be high or low.
Understanding Sound
The students will demonstrate their understanding of sound travel by
predicting and explaining why you can hear the sound of a train
coming when you put your ear on the track faster than you would by
the air.
Sound Unit
This unit contains six lessons about sound. Students build a sound
wave detector, construct and test a cup-and-string sound carrier,
and create string, percussion and wind instruments for a class
orchestra.
