Identify structures and functions of the muscular and skeletal systems of the human body.

Lesson Plans:

Systems of the Human Body
Students will understand that there are different systems within the body and that they work independently and together to form a functioning human body.

My Body:  The Inside Story

Bones, Bones, and More Bones
Students will be able to describe the functions of bones in the human body and be able to describe the make up of a bone; recognize that hollow bones have more strength; comprehend that the depletion of calcium in bones causes them to become weak and describe what the backbone is made up of.

Human Body
Students will identify various human body parts and the functions of these parts within the larger system.

Muscular System
This unit of three lessons looks at the use of muscles and describes strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Skeletal System
This unit has seven skeletal system activities

E/B: Students will construct a model of the skeletal (or muscular) systems and label them; D: ...and will use descriptive sentences to describe the function of each organ; E: ...and will write a narrative explaining the interdependence between organs.
