nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane.
|
|
| Lesson Plans:
C-E-L-L-O
This lesson involves learning the general structure and functions of cells in
organisms.
Virtual
Electron Microscope
This lesson involves learning that all organisms are composed of cells, which are
the fundamental units of life; most organisms are single cells, but
other organisms (including humans) are multi-cellular.
Make a Model Cell
To review and compare plant and animal cells, then build a model of
an animal cell.
What is
Inside a Cell?
In this lesson, students
will gain an understanding of the components of a cell.
What Is a Cell?
This lesson on the structure and the different functions of each
part of a cell includes printable reading comprehension worksheets.
Cell Structure and Function
Using information from the Mars Surveyor Space Program and
microscopes and slides, students will explore cell structure and
function.
The Cell as a System
Students will review cell structures and investigate how the
components of a cell operate as a system.

Suggestions for English Language Learners (ELLs):
(E/B=Entering/Beginning, D=Developing,
E=Expanding)
E/B:
Students will classify pictures of farm animals as
meat eaters, plant eaters or both; D: ...and
will examine animal adaptations to the food they
eat; E: ...and each student will then present
research about an omnivore, herbivore, and carnivore
from their native country.
E/B: After collecting different types of
leaves outside and then observing a piece of each
leaf under a microscope, students will make a chart
with a drawing of each leaf as they saw it in the
microscope. They will also draw pictures of the
trees that each leaf came from.; D: Students
will make a book with drawings describing what they
observed for each leaf; E: ...and will use
books to research other trees in Alabama. They will
collect leaves from these trees and look at them
through a microscope and report their findings. |
