Grade 8, Science
Std 11.0:  Explain the law of conservation of energy and its relationship to energy transformation, including chemical to electrical, chemical to heat, electrical to light, electrical to mechanical and electrical to sound.

Lesson Plans:

The Phenomenon of Sound
Students observe a variety of sound waves in lab stations and record their observations in a wave booklet.

Ultrasound: How Does it Work?
The second module shows how waves get reflected as they travel through objects.

Energy Source Web Quest
Students research, classify, and describe various energy sources.

Energy: Concepts and Careers
Students will analyze the law of conservation of energy and will apply energy concepts to skateboarding. Students will also explore careers related to energy.

Conservation of Energy
To demonstrate the law of the conservation of energy (blocks) without counting the units of energy directly.

The Halls Are Alive With the Sound of Music
In this lesson, students examine the relationship between the physics of sound and concert hall acoustics. Students perform a lab experiment in which they determine the speed of sound, a key variable in concert hall acoustics.
