| Lesson Plans:
Periodic
Table Bingo
In this lesson students will learn to interpret the
periodic table through a game format.
Isotopes of Pennies
To demonstrate that isotopes of an element have
different masses; that isotopes are atoms of the same element that
have different numbers of neutrons; and that atomic mass is the
weighted average of the naturally occurring isotopes of an element.
Why Are Electrons
Important?
The student will be able to write the electron configuration of any
element, given the atomic number. Given the location of an element on
the periodic table, the student will be able to give the highest
energy
level the valence electrons are on, and how many valence electrons it
has.
The Numbers Game
Find the atomic number, mass number, proton number, neutron number,
and electron number.
Yumminium
To get students to think about the periodic table and
that new elements are being discovered all the time. Students will be
asked to calculate the atomic mass and number of neutrons of Yumminium.
