Std 4.2:  Identify the four types of reactions.

Lesson Plans:

Double Replacement Reactions
To observe the formation of new substances in double displacement reactions.

Types of Chemical Reactions
Students will observe chemical reactions taking place and determine the types of reactions that occur.

Chemical Changes
By observing the following demonstrations, students will gain an understanding of how chemical reactions produce new substances.

Chem-speak
Students will understand what constitutes a chemical reaction and how chemical equations represent chemical reactions by means of discussion and demonstrations.

Types of Chemical Reactions
Upon completion of this experiment, the student should be able to classify chemical reactions into a limited number of categories.

Boy Meets Chemistry...and has a Reaction!
Students will explore the four main types of chemical reactions through an analogy of "Boy Meets Girl." Students will then "act out" these reactions as a class.

Physical & Chemical Changes
This is a PowerPoint presentation to help students distinguish between physical and chemical changes. It includes teacher demonstrations to check the students' understanding.
