Grade 8, Science
Std 7.1:    Explain the effects of temperature, concentration, surface area, and catalysts on the rate of chemical reactions.
• Differentiating between endothermic and exothermic reactions.

Lesson Plans:

Physical and Chemical Reactions
Students examine the four ways in which a reaction can speed up
(concentration, surface area, temperature, & catalysts).

Chemical Reaction Rates
Students  learn phenomenologically some of the factors which affect the rates of chemical reactions.

Reaction Rates - Catalysis, Concentration, Surface Area, and Temperature
To observe factors affecting the rate of a chemical reaction.

Basic Endothermic / Exothermic Lab
Lab activity to demonstrate endothermic and exothermic reactions

Exothermic and Endothermic Reactions
Students are to observe several exothermic and endothermic reactions, determine the changes that take place in a chemical reaction, and to observe how fast a reaction is taking place and what factors influence a chemical reaction.

Resources:

Chemical Bonding
Good explanations and examples of chemical bonding

Chem4kids
Great tutorials and activities.

Chemistry Index
Lots of ideas from SMILE

Classic chemistry experiments
100 activities
