Lesson Plans:
Learning About Magnets
This lesson provides an introduction to magnets and their properties
Marvelous Magnets
Students will predict properties of matter and test predictions.
Constructs groups of objects by demonstrating characteristics, such as
sink/float, bend/rigid, attracted/not attracted by magnet.
Mastering Magnetism
In this unit, students will learn about different types of magnets,
different uses for them, and the concept of magnetic poles.
Magnetism
At the kindergarten level the children should gather
information about magnetism through observation and experimentation
of magnets at work.
Amazing Magnets
The
overall goal of this unit is to provide students with hands on
experiences, while learning about magnets. This unit shows you how
to engage students in experiments which explore magnet force and
compass use. Using constructive techniques, this course of study
focuses on asking thoughtful, open-ended questions which, in turn,
encourage students to ask questions of each other. This unit
contains 11 lessons.
Exploring Ring Magnets
Students will learn like poles of magnets repel each other while
opposite poles attract. The repelling force is stronger than the
force of gravity for the ring magnets.
Learning About Magnets
This lesson provides an introduction to magnets and their
properties. Students will learn how to locate poles on various kinds
of magnets. Students will also observe how like poles repel and
unlike poles attract each other. In addition, students will become
familiar with natural magnets and the different materials a magnet
can attract.
Mickey’s Magnets
In this lesson
students will study magnetism and its properties, including forces.
Magnets Students will discover how magnets work, demonstrate magnetic lines of force, and find materials that can be attracted to magnets.
