| Lesson Plans:
Chemical Change and
Physical Change
To investigate some characteristic of chemical change.
Coke Soda, Hot VS.
Cold
Students will learn a physical chemical reaction in two
bottled coke soda, hot vs.
cold pop. Students will measure the beginning and the ending of
bubbles.
Chemical Changes
By doing the following demonstrations, students will gain an
understanding of how chemical reactions produce new substances.
Physical and Chemical
Changes In Matter
The student will be able to distinguish between a
chemical and physical
change in matter.
Physical and Chemical Changes
To study the difference between a physical and a chemical change.
The Chemistry of Fire
and Other Oxidation Reactions
Discover that oxidation is an exothermic reaction.
Measuring the Heat
Energy of a Chemical Change
To study the Law of Conservation of Energy.
Secret Message
Using the characteristic of a chemical reaction to
write a secret letter.
Activation Energy
The student will define the terms endothermic,
exothermic, and activation energy.
Heat of
Reaction - Hess's Law
In this experiment, you will measure and compare the quantity of heat
involved in three reactions. These heats of reaction will be measured
using a styrofoam calorimeter.
EXOTHERMIC AND
ENDOTHERMIC REACTIONS
Students are to observe several exothermic and endothermic reactions,
determine the changes that take place in a chemical reaction, and to
observe how fast a reaction is taking place and what factors influence
a chemical reaction.
Basic
Endothermic / Exothermic Lab
As a "Matter" of Fact
Students describe how matter changes from one state to
another.
Change Of State
A series of exercises to teach the states of matter.
Characteristics of
Matter
The objectives of this lesson are for primary and intermediate graders
to examine the relationships among gravity, weight, and mass, the
metric measurement of distance and volume, and density and its
application to physical properties.
It's a Gas!
To compare some properties of different gases.
Learning About Matter
And Energy
Students will learn and understand physical properties
of matter and energy. Students will discover that some things float,
some things dissolve in water. They will be able to discuss that
energy can be changed from one form to another.
