HS, Chemistry
Std 1.1:    Distinguish between intensive and extensive properties of matter.

Lesson Plans:

Carbon: Structure Matters
To explore the molecular structure of matter and how it can affect the physical characteristics of a specific material.

Density
To understand the compactness of planetary matter by measuring mass and volume and relating these to density.

Polymer Project
Students will learn about polymers, their history, their uses and their recycling. Students will also have the opportunity to produce some polymers (slime and gluep) in the laboratory.

Properties of Alloys
To examine the properties and uses of alloys.

Diapers: The Inside Story
All polymers aren't goopey like putty. The polymer inside some super absorbent diapers looks like a powder. When you add water to this amazing powder you will see why this polymer is used in baby diapers!

Resources:

THE SAME EVERYWHERE
Chem-4-kids periodic table.

Tom Stretton's Chemistry Pages
Great tutorials and practice problems

The Periodic Table of Comic Books
Associates each element with a comic reference - fun

Interactive Periodic Table
Created by an eighth-grade student!

Chemicool Periodic Table
This is an all-purpose, interactive periodic table that would be useful for high-school chemistry classes. In addition to general information about the elements, it includes the following: states, energies, oxidation and electrons, appearance and characteristics, reactions, conductivity, abundances, and more.

Pyrotechnics: It's Elemental
Some of the important elements that make a firework work.

Chem4kids
Great tutorials and activities.
