HS, Chemistry
Std 3.2:  Calculate the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in an isotope.

Lesson Plans:

Yumminium
To get students to think about the periodic table and that new elements are being discovered all the time. Students will be asked to calculate the atomic mass and number of neutrons of Yumminium.

Isotopes of Pennies
To demonstrate that isotopes of an element have different masses; that isotopes are atoms of the same element that have different numbers of neutrons; and that atomic mass is the weighted average of the naturally occurring isotopes of an element.

The Numbers Game
Find the Atomic Number, Mass Number, Proton Number, Neutron Number. and Electron Number

Introducing Atoms
To explore atomic structure.

Resources:

Very simple worksheet on atomic changes

Homemade Toothpaste

THE SAME EVERYWHERE
Chem-4-kids periodic table.

Chemistry and Other Science Labs

Tom Stretton's Chemistry Pages
Great tutorials and practice problems

The Periodic Table of Comic Books
Associates each element with a comic reference - fun

Interactive Periodic Table
Created by an eighth-grade student!

Chemicool Periodic Table
This is an all-purpose, interactive periodic table that would be useful for high-school chemistry classes. In addition to general information about the elements, it includes the following: states, energies, oxidation and electrons, appearance and characteristics, reactions, conductivity, abundances, and more.

Pyrotechnics: It's Elemental
Some of the important elements that make a firework work.

Chem4kids
Great tutorials and activities.
