HS, Chemistry
Std 5.1: Use the kinetic theory to explain rates of chemical reactions.

Lesson Plans:

Bubble The Trouble Away
The purpose of this lesson is to examine the activity of an enzyme in living tissues.

Synthesizing Esters
To synthesize esters from a carboxylic acid and an alcohol.

Activation Energy
The student will define the terms endothermic, exothermic, and activation energy.

Heating and Cooling Curves
To construct a heating and cooling curve of a pure substance using data collected through experimentation.

Calorimetry
To develop an understanding of the fundamentals of calorimetry. That the
students will learn how to manipulate and set up the equipment and the
development of increasing and decreasing amounts of heat.

Electrochemistry
Students understand that electricity causes chemical reactions and chemical
reactions can cause electricity.

EXOTHERMIC AND ENDOTHERMIC REACTIONS
Students are to observe several exothermic and endothermic reactions.

Evaporation and Temperature Change
The students will compare how much heat is required for various substances
to evaporate by measuring how much the surrounding temperature decreases.

Reaction Rates - Catalysis, Concentration, Surface Area, and Temperature
To observe factors affecting the rate of a chemical reaction.

Resources:

THE SAME EVERYWHERE
Chem-4-kids periodic table.

Tom Stretton's Chemistry Pages
Great tutorials and practice problems

The Periodic Table of Comic Books
Associates each element with a comic reference - fun

Interactive Periodic Table
Created by an eighth-grade student!

Chemicool Periodic Table
This is an all-purpose, interactive periodic table that would be useful for high-school chemistry classes. In addition to general information about the elements, it includes the following: states, energies, oxidation and electrons, appearance and characteristics, reactions, conductivity, abundances, and more.

Pyrotechnics: It's Elemental
Some of the important elements that make a firework work.

Chem4kids
Great tutorials and activities.
