Gravitational Force: An Internet Based lesson
The objective of this lesson is for students to be familiar with Sir
Isaac Newton, the development of his Law of Universal Gravitation.
Introduction To
Magnets
The students will familiarize themselves with several different
kinds of magnets. They will observe the forces of attraction and
repulsion between the different poles, and the forces of magnetism,
electromagnetism and static electricity.
Atomic Theory
Rutherford's gold foil experiment, performed in conjunction with
Geiger and Marsden, provided evidence for the nucleus due to the
scattering of alpha particles. The repulsion of some alpha particles
suggested that the nucleus is positively charged, containing
protons.
Sun-Centered Physics
To use a coronal mass ejection (CME) to determine the relationship
between position, average velocity and average acceleration and to
analyze the motion of the coronal mass in terms of the forces acting
on the body (Lesson 1).
Is Perpetual Motion Possible?
Students will build a model which demonstrates energy conversions
(from potential to kinetic to thermal) and will apply these
conversions to develop an understanding of the law of conservation
of energy.
Control a Nuclear
Power Plant
The control-room operators of the Kärnobyl nuclear power plant are
telecommuting and are running the plant through the Web. However,
the mean time between failure for the components of Kärnobyl is not
great. Try to keep the reactor stable when component failures occur!
Magnetic Fusion on Your Desk
To demonstrate by analogy nuclear electrostatic forces (page 45)

Tutorials and Activities
Ring of Fire
Becoming educated in physical geography requires an understanding of
the theory of plate tectonics and the Earth's geological history. In
this lesson, students will learn more about these concepts as they
investigate the region known as the Ring of Fire, where 75% of the
Earth's active and dormant volcanoes are located.
Solar Energy
Experiment
The purpose of the following experiment is to demonstrate
that energy from the sun can be collected and
stored in many ways.
Solar Cookers
Several plans to build a solar cooker
