Waves:
Students will be able to state the properties that a medium must possess in order that waves may be transmitted through it.  Students will be able to tell the essential difference between a longitudinal and a transverse wave.

The Electromagnetic Spectrum
Understand that the sun’s energy is transferred to Earth by electromagnetic waves.

Is Perpetual Motion Possible?
Students will build a model which demonstrates energy conversions (from potential to kinetic to thermal) and will apply these conversions to develop an understanding of the law of conservation of energy.

To perform a version of the experiment of 1800, in which a form of radiation other than visible light was discovered by the famous astronomer Sir Frederick William Herschel.
