The
Cafeteria Caper
The cafeteria at Park Haven H.S. was trashed, and the evidence left
behind bears a suspicious similarity to the initiation rights of an
underground club. Students conduct an enzymes test, as well as hair,
blood and DNA analysis to find out who’s responsible.
Trash to Treasure
Students analyze prepared trash to find evidence of a crime. The
general goal is to demonstrate how to investigate using problem
solving.
Who Killed Myra Mains?
asks students to investigate a mock crime scene in an integrated
science unit. In this inquiry-based lab activity, students formulate
and revise scientific explanations, and gain the ability to
communicate and defend a scientific argument by using the scientific
method.
CRIME
SCENE: The Case of the Missing Computer Chip
The activity uses a simulation of a crime scene to help illustrate
several principles of the nature of science. The participants are
divided into groups of no less than three or more than five.

in the classroom for teaching chemistry
