Focus of Unit:
Students create
media (visual symbols) for communication with non-speaking students.
Rationale:

demonstrate to students that there is more than one form of
communication.

symbols used in art are also used for building a word base for
non-speaking students.

a usable web page containing symbols for non-speaking students.

Create
a presentation to explain their collaborative process used to design the
symbol system. The presentation may take the form of computer
presentation, video or other approved format.
