All About Our Town: Using Brochures to Teach Informational Writing
In this lesson, students in grades 2–4 practice information gathering by exploring their town or city through interviews, photographs, and websites. They then write and revise paragraphs about their town and collaborate to create a visitor's brochure aimed at students who are new to the area.

What Can I Write About?
Students will read the work of professional and student authors then review the elements of a story. They will then write a collaborative story with other students, using randomly drawn characters, problems, and settings. They will illustrate and publish their stories.

A Whale Of A Tale
Students will research and gather facts about whales and use this information to create a narrative (story) with interesting and realistic elaborations.

Bark/Meow, Purr/Snort - Oh, What a Voice!
Students will do teacher directed experiences to understand voice in writing. Students will complete a narrative writing depicting two animals/things that are opposite by focusing on different voices.
