A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words: From Image to Detailed Narrative
The old cliché "A picture is worth a thousand words" is put to the test in this lesson. Distribute or show a picture that tells a story and then encourage students to brainstorm words and ideas about the image before writing.


Can You Convince Me
Through a classroom game and resource handouts, students are introduced to the basic concepts of lobbying for something that is important to them (or that they want) and making persuasive arguments
.

Oral History
Interview someone, then write and publish that person's oral history on our site!

Can You Follow My Directions?
Students will place coins on a grid and will write clear directions to help other students find the coins.

Writing: Text Structure: These sites explain the different types of text structures that are used in expository writing. The text structures include chronological sequence, comparison/contrast, description, problem/solution, and cause and effect.
