Lesson Plans:
Learning Vocabulary Down By the Bay
The lesson uses a popular children's song that contains several
high-frequency vocabulary words to assist students in recognizing,
reading, writing, and using the words in several contexts.
Do
Spiders Live On the World Wide Web
Through use of a fun and informative online story, students will
explore the parts of the computer, as well as discover that words have
multiple meanings.
Using A Predictable Text To Teach High Frequency Words
This lesson uses a predictable text (Have You
Seen My Cat? by Eric Carle) to help students learn high-frequency
words. After reading the story, students form their own sentences
using words from the text.
Bodaciously Beautiful Butterflies Take Flight
The students
complete a study on butterflies using real caterpillars. Each student
keeps a personal daily journal of observations and completes a
timeline for their caterpillar/butterfly.

Mirror
In this lesson students practice important beginning
reading skills with poems and the big book, In the Mirror. They
learn some new vocabulary about themselves and they celebrate that
their bodies are alike, but also different!
