Specific Task

You are to choose ONE bond scenario from the list below and tell why it will or will not bond. You must research this bond scenario on the World Wide Web. After researching it, you need to describe the bond scenario in detail, using the information you have gathered from the web. You must supply reasons why the bonding succeeded or failed. Then, you should illustrate the type of bond scenario by comparing it to a historic or literary relationship between two people. For example, I might explain the ionic bond by comparing it to Shakespeare's play, "Romeo and Juliet", since their relationship clearly shows that opposites attract to one another. (Of course, your comparison would explain the relationship a bit more in detail and would develop the similarity between the chemical bond and the human bond.)

Choose one of the following bond types to research:

Ionic - Choose two of the following ions to bond: Ca2+, Na+, K+, Cl-, O2-.
Covalent - Describe the bond that comprises the F2 molecule.
Polar Covalent - Describe the bond that comprises the HF molecule.
