Designing a Tour of Washington D.C.

The Big Question

Based on your guest's activities and interests, what sites do you think they would be interested in seeing while visiting Washington D.C.?

  • What sites might interest persons in your guest's occupation?
  • Are there sites that would support your guest's hobbies?
  • How about their family?  What would interest them?

The Process

To accomplish this task you will want to follow the steps listed here.

READ THROUGH ALL OF THIS SECTION BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Ř    Get your assigned guest from the teacher.

Ř    Read through your guest information. What are your guest's interests? What are your guest's hobbies?

Ř    From the list of web sites look for places in Washington D.C. that would interest your guest.

REMEMBER: You will have a "clue" for a site that you should make sure to visit based on your guest's interests.

Ř    Look through the list of web sites given and make a written list of those sites that you think might be possible for you to visit.

Ř    Investigate those sites. Make a list of possible choices.

Your Final Product

Your final product will be a map of Washington D.C. that labels each of the six (6) sites you will include on your tour.

Each site will be labeled with a number.

Ř    On separate paper you will write a summary paragraph (five sentences) about what you will see at each site.  Each paragraph needs to be typed and labeled with the corresponding spot on the map.  For instance, the map location labeled number 1 needs to be described in the paragraph labeled number 1.

REMEMBER… you will choose at least six sites. Choose wisely!
